Parent governor
Term - September 2024 - September 2028
My name is Craig Addy, and I am proud to serve as a Parent Governor at Slaithwaite CE J&I School, a role I began in September 2024 and will continue through to 2028. With over 20 years of experience in the mortgage advice industry, I bring a wealth of professional knowledge that includes people management, recruitment, operational expertise, and project management. These skills have proven invaluable in my governance work, helping me contribute effectively to the strategic oversight and decision-making processes within the school.
Although I am relatively new to governance, having started this role recently, I am eager to apply my professional background to support the school’s continued success. Living in Slaithwaite with my wife and two daughters, both of whom attend the school, gives me a personal connection and a genuine interest in seeing the school thrive. Outside of school, I am a passionate Huddersfield Town season ticket holder, enjoy playing and watching darts, and love attending live music events—with Oasis being my most recent concert experience.
Within the governing board, I have specific responsibilities for pay, complaints, staffing dismissal, headteacher performance management, child protection and safeguarding, and the school development plan with a focus on maths. I chose to become a governor after seeing the vacancy on the Dojo app and recognising that my skills and experience could be valuable to the board. I was motivated by the opportunity to make a positive difference, bringing the perspective of a parent while utilising my professional expertise to support the school community.
